Nominees include Duncan Chisholm, Patsy Reid and Salthouse
The 12th edition of ‘The Trads’, as they’ve become better known, takes place next Saturday, December 13. The organisers, Hands Up For Trad, confirmed they have had a record-breaking number of votes (100,000 in total) from the public since the nominees shortlist was announced. The Awards which have become a key date in Scotland’s traditional music calendar, have previously been held in Aberdeen but this year for the first time the ceremony will take place in Inverness.
There are 16 award categories in total, including Album of the Year (nominees are Patsy Reid, Duncan Chisholm (pictured), Adam Holmes and Emily Smith); Event of the Year (nominees include the Boomerang project and Grit: The Martyn Bennett Story) and Up-and-Coming Artist of the Year which has a very strong shortlist of new talent including Twelfth Day, Cherrygrove, The Elephant Sessions, Dallahan, Barluath and Salthouse.
With live performances from acts such as Shooglenifty (next issue’s Beginner’s Guide band), Fiddlers Bid and Rura, it looks like it could be a lively night in Inverness next Saturday.
